Viking Fortress Borgring

In Lellinge, west of Køge, lies the Viking fortress Borgring – the youngest of Denmark’s five known ring fortresses. Today, the area has been expanded with a new visitor centre, where architecture is closely connected to the historic landscape. For the visitor centre, DAMPA has supplied ceiling solutions in the form of DAMPA Lamella.

The visitor centre was designed by LOOP Architects in collaboration with LYTT Architecture. The centre takes the form of a rectangular building with reference to Viking Age longhouses and royal halls. Inside the building, the ceiling plays a central role in the main areas. Facades and interior surfaces are executed in black, charred wood, while the ceiling is clad with more than 7500 metres of black DAMPA Lamella, continuing the dark expression and creating a clear connection between the exterior and interior of the building.

With DAMPA Lamella, a ceiling solution has been created that integrates discreetly into the architecture of the visitor centre. The solution unifies the material palette and contributes to a modern yet historical expression.
