Niebuhr Gears
In 2015, Niebuhr Gears relocated to a new, modern headquarters in Ikast, Denmark. The ambition was clear: to create a comfortable and highly functional indoor environment that supports employee wellbeing and productivity. The building reflects the company’s industrial DNA, combining clean architectural lines with robust materials – a natural extension of Niebuhr Gears’ expertise in gear production and steel processing.
To achieve this, a total of 764 m² of DAMPA metal ceilings were installed, including 306 m² of DAMPA® Climate Ceiling. The solution integrates climate control directly into the ceiling construction, combining aesthetics and functionality in a single, streamlined system.
The grey tiles feature perforation extending fully to the edges, creating a harmonious ceiling surface without visible transitions. This enhances the architectural concept and reinforces the building’s industrial character, while the perforations contribute to effective sound absorption.
DAMPA® Climate Ceiling operates through low-temperature radiant heating and cooling. Heat or cooling is transferred between the ceiling surface and other surfaces in the room, such as people or furniture, without setting the air in motion. This eliminates draught and reduces the noise typically associated with mechanical ventilation systems, ensuring a quiet and comfortable working atmosphere.
The slim steel tile positioned between the ceiling surface and the integrated heating and cooling elements ensures a fast response time to temperature changes. This enables a stable and pleasant indoor climate throughout the day.
Delivered as prefabricated units with integrated climate elements, the DAMPA® Climate Ceiling solution allowed for efficient installation directly on site. The final result met both the architect’s and the client’s expectations: a ceiling solution that delivers high acoustic performance, precise climate control, and a refined industrial aesthetic – perfectly aligned with Niebuhr Gears’ identity and operations.
