Banedanmark

After the opening of the domicile in Ringsted, Banedanmark had to realize that the bare concrete walls neither met the design nor acoustic needs, which affected the well-being of the employees and guests. Banedanmark’s wish for better design and acoustics was fulfilled in a collaboration between DAMPA and architect Henning Larsen.

Today, the acoustic narrative is different, since it was assessed that DAMPA® Silent Board, with its sound-absorbing properties, was an obvious choice to solve the challenges.

The beautiful wall panels contain a total of three sound absorbers, i.a. a porous absorbent in the form of inserted mineral wool, which stops sound waves from reflecting back into the room and thus creating an echo. This has created better conditions for conversing with colleagues in the canteen as well as in the corridors without being exhausted by noise.

For the task, based on the acoustic and aesthetic needs, a total of 413 acoustic wall panels have been installed, in two sizes; 600×1200 and 600×1800 mm. This is chosen to take advantage of the flexible acoustic regulation and adapt the acoustics to the function of the room through the modular wall panels.

DAMPA® Silent Board is produced in steel and by utilizing the material’s natural surface, a consistently robust design has been created, which is a perfect match for the building’s original expression.

The acoustic improvements have, among other things, been possible thanks to the flexibility of the steel. The solution has been specifically developed for Banedanmark’s needs, where the DAMPA® Silent Board is an essential building block in the already completed construction.
