At DAMPA, we are proud to deliver our acoustic solutions in the new greener material – steel with 59% lower GWP and based on 100% recycled steel. Read more about the benefits and facts here.
In recent years, SSAB has worked purposefully to offer a greener steel solution. The first step on this journey is now ready, and at DAMPA we are proud to deliver the majority of our acoustic solutions in the material SSAB Zero™.
We are pleased to offer our customers this option for a greener steel solution. With SSAB Zero™, you make a truly green choice. The material is recycled, produced with fossil-free energy, and results in a 59% reduction in GWP compared to our current steel – all without compromising the integrity of the material,
says Michael Nykjær, CEO at DAMPA, and continues:
For us, this means we can now produce our acoustic solutions in climate-friendly steel, without sacrificing either quality or performance.
What is SSAB Zero™?
SSAB Zero™ is the first step toward completely fossil-free steel.
The material consists of 100% recycled steel. This means that all steel for this material is scrap-based. According to SSAB’s own Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), more than 90% of the scrap comes from external sources (post- and pre-consumer scrap), while the remainder (less than 10%) is internal scrap from their own facilities.
SSAB Zero™ is based on a physically fossil-free production, where both energy and materials are carefully controlled and documented. There are virtually no fossil emissions during the steel production itself. In this way, it differs from much other “green steel,” which is often based on compensation models (e.g., purchasing CO₂ quotas or green energy certificates).

Benefits of Choosing SSAB Zero™
By choosing SSAB Zero™, you get steel that combines documented sustainability with the same properties as traditional steel. This makes the material a strong alternative for those who want to reduce their climate footprint without compromising on quality or function.
Some of the key benefits of using SSAB Zero™:
- Drastically lower CO₂ footprint: Almost no direct CO₂ emissions during production, contributing significantly to reducing climate impact.
- Resource-efficient and circular: Based on recycled scrap, reducing the need for new extraction and use of iron ore.
- No compromise on quality and strength: Retains the same mechanical properties as conventional steel.
- Technological preparation for even cleaner steel: SSAB already uses technologies such as HYBRIT™, which in 2026 will introduce steel based on iron ore + hydrogen, with absolutely zero CO₂ emissions. SSAB Zero™ is therefore an important step on the journey.
75% Post-consumer Aluminium
In addition to the work with the new greener steel, aluminium is also an important part of our sustainability initiatives. Our post-consumer aluminium consists of 75% recycled material and has a 69% lower CO₂ footprint than traditional aluminium.
Aluminium has the great advantage that it can be recycled repeatedly without losing its properties. By using recycled aluminium, resource consumption in production is reduced to about one-tenth of what the production of new aluminium requires. That is why the material plays a central role in our work to reduce CO₂ emissions and contribute to a more circular construction industry.

With this, we can offer acoustic solutions where both steel and aluminium contribute to a reduced climate footprint – all without compromising on quality or function.
