Optimise your acoustics regardless of the room’s use and design with our robust DAMPA® Silent Board, manufactured in steel.
Easily optimise acoustics in both existing and new projects with our wall-mounted acoustic panels made of metal. Customise the design to suit your preferences, thanks to the versatility of the material. The robust construction of these wall panels makes them perfect for busy and exposed areas such as schools and corridors.
To achieve optimal acoustics, add sound-absorbing elements to the walls, covering approximately 20% of the room’s floor area. This is especially crucial in rooms with high ceilings, where placing sound absorbers on the walls maximises acoustic effectiveness. This approach underscores the importance of tailoring acoustics to the room’s shape and purpose.
Robust Acoustic Panels in Perforated Metal
“Metal and acoustics are rarely mentioned in the same sentence, at least not outside of DAMPA,” says Mogens Kjærgaard, Product Manager at DAMPA ApS, and continues:
“This is unfortunately a great pity because by perforating the metal plate, which logic tells us is sound-reflective and not sound-absorbing, we create a resonance absorber combined with a membrane absorber. When sound waves hit the resonance absorber, the small air plugs in the perforated holes vibrate, counteracted by the air behind the plate. The air acts like a spring, attempting to return the now vibrating air plugs to their resting position, thereby negating the movement of the sound waves. This way, sound absorption is achieved even in the lower frequency ranges.
When the resonance absorber is combined with a soft porous absorber, such as acoustic felt, we get a solution with the best from the three absorber worlds, where the acoustics can be adapted to the specific acoustic needs of the room. Thus, due to the properties of the metal, acoustic solutions can be achieved in all sound absorption classes – including A,”
concludes Mogens Kjærgaard.
Metal in Circular Construction
DAMPA® Silent Board is made from steel, a material that requires considerable energy to extract. However, steel offers significant environmental advantages.
The properties of the steel ensure that it:
- Can be recycled indefinitely with minimal resources. Rather than deteriorating, steel remains a key part of the circular economy.
- Is 100% reusable. The durability of steel guarantees a long lifespan for acoustic panels, often outlasting the buildings they serve. These wall panels can be repurposed and adapted for use in other spaces.
