With the possibility of digital printing, acoustic panels are transformed into artworks, portraits, and essential wayfinding. Everything from large headquarters to kindergartens has realised the potential of digital printing.
There was a time when acoustic solutions looked exactly like what they were: a practical solution for a room with poor acoustics.
But that was then…
Since then, DAMPA, experts in acoustic metal solutions for ceilings and walls, has challenged the perception of how acoustics can visually appear.
This means that DAMPA’s acoustic solutions today are an integrated part of the room’s design, partly because the properties of metals invite play with the surface, for instance, in the form of digital printing. A technique that easily transforms acoustic solutions into artworks, portraits, or signs that guide visitors on their way.
Solve Two Problems With One Solution
In this way, a practical acoustic problem has essentially been transformed into an aesthetically pleasing or informative resource, says Lone Rold, project and architectural advisor at DAMPA:
“To put it bluntly, it’s killing two birds with one stone. Previously, you had to mount the acoustic solutions on the walls, and then the aesthetic or practical wall decoration had to be fitted in wherever there was space. With our metal acoustic panels, you get both in one solution, and this opens up a lot of new possibilities,” she says.
The Only Limit is your Imagination
Lone Rold further explains that the possibility of making digital prints on the wall panels is relatively new, and that everything from kindergartens to corporate headquarters is beginning to see the potential of the product. Not least because the quality is really good – both in terms of acoustic damping, which DAMPA has years of experience with – but also in terms of photographic quality:
“You can actually bring any photo in the right size, and then it is possible to reproduce it on the metal panels. In the bank, for example, the traditional cavalcade of former bank directors can be printed on acoustic panels, and in the hospital waiting room, there can be calming pictures of, for example, poppy fields. It’s really only your imagination that sets the limits,” says Lone Rold.
Acoustics and Design in a Class of Their Own
DAMPA Silent Board and DAMPA Silent Board Flex offer a wealth of design possibilities. Digital prints can be made directly on the acoustic panels, which are also available in all RAL and NCS colours.
Finally, the acoustic perforation can be made in various patterns, giving the design a unique expression.
