5 Reasons to Choose DAMPA® Space

We are very excited about the latest addition to our acoustic universe: DAMPA® Space. But what is it that makes it so remarkable? We will explain here.

In collaboration with Kjaer & Richter and Holmris B8, we have developed DAMPA® Space – a flexible and aesthetic solution designed to create tranquillity, structure, and a “room within the room.”

In our opinion, it is an outstanding solution with many different applications. But what exactly makes DAMPA® Space extraordinary?

Here are our five key reasons:

1. The opportunity to create a room within a room

The idea behind DAMPA® Space is to provide an extra room. A space where you can feel safe and sheltered yet remain part of the surrounding environment – and that is exactly what DAMPA® Space offers.

Liv Bach Henriksen, Architect MAA and Head of Learning Environments, says about DAMPA® Space:

Space helps create a secure and screened-off workplace. When the doors are folded out, the furniture contributes to focus and immersion. When closed, Space appears as a calm, visual surface in the room that can actively be used for display.

DAMPA® Space goes beyond schools and learning environments. As DAMPA’s Project and Architectural Advisor, Lone Rold, points out:

DAMPA® Space is ideal for offices, particularly in flexible workplaces. For employees who do not come in every day, Space offers a flexible workstation that can be folded out when needed. When not in use, it can be folded away and still contribute to the acoustics of the entire office.

2. Acoustic regulation – Acoustic Class A

Acoustics are a central factor for wellbeing, concentration, and efficiency in everyday life. With DAMPA® Space you do not just get a piece of furniture, but an innovative solution that combines acoustic comfort with functionality and flexibility. The design reduces noise and creates pleasant sound environments, while easily adapting to different rooms and requirements.

At the core of the solution are DAMPA’s acoustic wall panels, DAMPA® Silent Board, which meet the requirements for Acoustic Class A. This means DAMPA® Space not only defines physical zones but also reduces reverberation time and improves acoustics – a crucial advantage in both learning environments and office landscapes.

3. Noticeboard integrated into the design

DAMPA® Space is made of metal. In addition to each door being an absorber of Acoustic Class A, both sides can also be used as a magnetic noticeboard. This means Space is not only a workplace but can also be part of the interior design – or even a temporary exhibition surface.

There are two choices of back panel: Forbo Bulletin Board or a 1 mm steel plate. Both options allow the back panel to be used as a noticeboard, making it possible to create your own private area.

4. Designed for inclusive learning environments

The need for inclusive learning environments is growing. More children and young people are being diagnosed, and there is strong political focus on ensuring that pupils with special needs are included in mainstream education as much as possible. This places new demands on the physical environment, where the setting must actively support calm, security, and flexibility.

On the design made for inclusion, Lone Rold explains:

This is exactly where DAMPA® Space makes a difference. By creating temporary zones with both visual and acoustic shielding, the solution contributes to greater concentration and security – without excluding students from the community.

5. Design – colour options and digital printing

Colours play an active role in the design of DAMPA® Space. They either blend harmoniously into the wall for discreet integration or add character and energy to the room. You can choose front, handle, and back panel in carefully selected colours that complement each other, offering countless combinations. By selecting a contrasting back panel, you transform the furniture into a new visual experience every time it is opened.

Colours can also function as a visual coding system, helping children and users to read and navigate the space. This creates both structure and security. With the option of digital printing, DAMPA® Space opens even greater opportunities for personalisation. This means that the furniture not only an acoustic tool but also a design element that strengthens the overall experience.
