Product news: New acoustic canopies unite design and acoustics

With DAMPA® Silent Cloud, you can easily improve the acoustics in any room. With different sizes, edge details and free choice from the colour palette, the canopies can be adapted to each individual project.

DAMPA® Silent Cloud is a series of acoustic canopies that, in a simple and elegant way, allow you to create targeted acoustic control exactly where the need is greatest. This could, for example, be above workstations, meeting tables or as part of an open ceiling design.

One of the advantages of choosing an acoustic canopy instead of, for example, wall panels is that the free-hanging rafts can absorb sound from several sides. This is because sound can move freely around the raft and is therefore absorbed on both the top and bottom surfaces. For that reason, canopies are often more effective sound absorbers than wall panels of the same size.

About the new solution, Michael Nykjær, CEO at DAMPA, says:

We are incredibly pleased to present our latest addition within acoustic solutions. The canopies have been in demand, and we are proud to offer a solution with complete design freedom in terms of colours and perforations. At the same time, the canopies allow for different configurations – whether you want a single canopy, a row above a meeting table or a solution that works as an open ceiling.

Play with the design

The canopies offer many options for design customisation. They are available in several sizes and with two different edge details: a 40-degree bevelled edge, which is suitable for single canopies and creates a soft visual expression; or a straight edge, which gives a more distinct look and makes it possible to combine several canopies into one continuous canopy – for example above a long meeting table.

The expression can also be varied through the choice of colours and perforations, making it possible to adapt the solution to each individual project. In addition, the rafts can meet other functional needs, as it is, for example, possible to integrate both lighting and cooling directly into the canopies.

With DAMPA® Silent Cloud you get a solution that can be adapted to almost any architectural concept. By choosing edge profile, colours and perforations, the canopies can either play a discreet role in the overall design – or act as a striking architectural feature in the interior,

says Michael Nykjær, and sums up:

DAMPA® Silent Cloud offers great freedom to create the desired look and function in the room.

Flexible installation and effective acoustic control

In addition to the many design options, DAMPA® Silent Cloud also offers a number of practical advantages:

  • Flexible installation: The canopies are installed as free-hanging units on wires, providing great freedom in terms of positioning. This makes the solution ideal for projects where existing installations must be taken into account – for example in conversion and renovation projects where improved acoustics are desired without installing a full suspended ceiling.
  • Effective acoustic control: Acoustic measurements show high acoustic performance*, making it easy and efficient to control the acoustics in specific areas, e.g. above a meeting table or as part of an open ceiling.
  • Technical integrations: DAMPA® Silent Cloud has been developed with a focus on functionality. They can be customised with integrated lighting, cooling or other technical installations, so design and function go hand in hand in a single unit.
  • Robust and durable: The new series of canopies is produced in aluminium – a light and strong material that ensures long service life and high durability. The raft retains its appearance over time and requires minimal maintenance.

* In-house measurements have been carried out in accordance with EN ISO 354. These measurements are available on request. Please send an email to dampa@dampa.dk.
