DAMPA® Drift Panels

DAMPA^® Drift Panels transform reclaimed ceiling panels into sculptural wall elements with a strong spatial identity. Crafted from carefully selected surplus aluminium, production is intentionally limited.

The design, which exemplifies circular thinking by turning imperfections into aesthetic features, won the If Design Award 2026.

DAMPA^® Drift Panels reimagine reclaimed aluminium ceiling panels as expressive, design-led wall elements developed in collaboration with Aalborg University’s Design Lab and designer Mikkel Huse. The project integrates circular principles directly into the production process, where dents and irregularities in the acoustic material are embraced and transformed into defining design features rather than discarded as flaws.

Through a controlled pressing technique, the panels are reshaped into soft, undulating forms inspired by natural wave patterns. The surface creates a refined interplay of light and shadow, adding depth, tactility and architectural character to interior spaces. By extending the lifecycle of existing materials, DAMPA^® Drift Panels challenge conventional production logic and demonstrate how surplus resources can be elevated into high-end design.
